Vehicle requirements in the United Arab Emirates

Dubai
To drive in Dubai, your vehicle must:

  • Have an RTA vehicle registration for an RTA-approved limousine
  • Have at least 4 passenger seats
  • Have fully functional air conditioning
  • Be clean and in good condition with no cosmetic damage
  • Have no commercial branding
  • Display an L Plate Number in compliance with RTA regulations
  • Maintain a valid Commercial Comprehensive Insurance policy
  • Be an RTA-approved vehicle, listed with the RTA or confirmed in the awarding letter provided to the limousine company

Abu Dhabi
To drive in Abu Dhabi, your vehicle must:

  • Have an ITC vehicle registration
  • Hold a valid ITC permit, similar to the RTA limousine permit
  • Be manufactured within the last 5 years
  • Be clean and in good condition with no cosmetic damage
  • Have no commercial branding

Additional rule for UAE nationals:

  • You can use a vehicle registered under your own name or under a first-degree relative’s name (parent, sibling, or child).
  • If it’s registered to a relative, you must provide a notarized court letter confirming the relationship and granting permission to use the vehicle for commercial purposes.
