Kamera használata járműben

As more drivers and fleets are using CCTV, here's some guidance on handling video data. We offer privacy tips, but you (the driver or fleet owner) are responsible for your own policies and complying with the law.

If you use a CCTV camera in your vehicle, you're responsible for following privacy rules. This means:

  • You must handle any personal data you record in accordance with the law.
  • Make sure you know and follow the privacy and data protection laws in your country. This includes being clear about why you're recording, how long you keep the footage, what you do with it and whether you share it with any third parties (like cloud storage providers, etc).
  • Put up signs in your vehicle that say you're recording, why, how long you keep the recordings, who is in charge of the recordings (you), and how passengers can see your full privacy policy. It's a good idea to have a written privacy policy available.
  • Don't post customer videos on social media unless you have a very good legal reason (like their permission). Sharing videos without permission can break privacy laws and lead to legal consequences.
  • Only share CCTV footage with people who absolutely need to see it. Don't share it unnecessarily.
