When sticking to resolutions is increasingly difficult, that 10k you’d like to train for is probably better suited to be a 5k, you can only take so many more lime sodas and you’ve yet to crack the spine of any of the books piled in your bedroom corner. Sound familiar?
It happens to the best of us. As the end of Jan nears there’s always the dreaded “How are your New Year’s Resolutions going?” conversations. Conveniently if you happen to come across this blog post, we’ve prepared some very simple actions you can take to be more mindful and thoughtful when travelling in 2024. And as a reward we’ve even tucked a promo code at the end of this article – so keep reading…
Using Bolt is quick and easy but we could always use a refresher on the best way to use the app from time-to-time so what better time than at the start of the New Year. Here’s our top tips which you can incorporate into your travel routine in 2024.
Double-check that you’ve entered your destination correctly
A common mistake that we see reported from passengers and Bolt drivers alike is trip destinations being entered into the Bolt app incorrectly. When you enter your destination’s address into the Bolt app you will receive a visual route of your journey, double-check that you’ve selected the correct address.
Occasionally some cities will have more than one street with the same name or address so it’s really important to check this before getting into your Bolt. We also encourage Bolt drivers to always confirm your destination before starting a trip as an added measure.
If you need to make a stop along the way or would like to change your journey, you can do this from the Bolt app. We highly recommend letting your driver know verbally as well to avoid any confusion along the way.
Select a safe area for pickup and dropoff
Sometimes the default area to get picked up or dropped off may not be safe or legal for your driver to stop at. Where possible, try to drop your pickup pin in a nearby area where it’s easier for your driver to pick you up. This allows you to get in the car and get settled with your belongings before setting off.
Similarly when completing your journey, communicate with your driver when you are planning to exit the vehicle so they can stop the journey and ensure you are in an area that’s safe to exit the car. Always be mindful of other cars or bicycles when leaving your Bolt.
If you are getting a Bolt from a busier area like a train station or shopping centre keep in mind the Bolt app might have pre-selected areas where a car will be instructed to come and pick you up, this will be easily marked in the Bolt app but something to take note of when travelling.
Get to your car in a timely manner
We encourage passengers to try and meet their driver as soon as they arrive for a Bolt trip. If your driver has to wait you may incur waiting fees, we always recommend that you and your group be ready to go as soon as you order a car to allow you to get where you need to go as a sign of courtesy to your driver.
Most importantly – be kind
January can be an exceptionally tough month but we’ll always remind you to treat your Bolt driver and their car the way you and your property would like to be treated. Respect gets respect which is why we always encourage passengers and drivers alike to leave ratings after using Bolt.
Your feedback allows us to monitor both passenger and driver behaviours and continually improve your journey experience. The simple act of being kind is sometimes enough to make another person’s day. It’s effortless and easy to try – much easier than sticking to new year’s resolutions! .
With these simple tips in mind, we hope you’ll see for yourself that you can make your travel experience better. And positivity is something we could all use as little more of going into this New Year.
