Our mission is to build a better future for the industry, but we want to go even further. Because of this, we’re launching our Green Plan — a long-term commitment to reduce the ecological footprint of Bolt as a company. Our first step is to make all Bolt rides in Europe 100% carbon neutral by buying verified emission reduction, neutralising the CO2 emissions that Bolt rides create.
From today, every European Bolt ride will be 100% carbon neutral. So, when you make the decision to ride with Bolt, you’re also choosing to fight climate change, one ride at a time — at no extra cost to you.
By supporting a number of carbon offsetting projects across the globe, we’re able to cancel out the CO2 that your Bolt emits during your ride, making it a greener trip!
We’re proud to be the largest ride-hailing company in Europe to voluntarily commit to such a huge undertaking. Our carbon offsetting initiative will be a multi-million-pound investment which will continue to grow with our company.
So, what are we planning to do, exactly? The Green Plan’s main goals are:
Climate change is one of the biggest threats that humankind has ever known. It has, potentially permanently, altered the Earth’s geological and ecological systems, causing extreme weather patterns, environmental hazards and an increased danger of wildfires.
Carbon offsetting is a means of reducing the damage caused by the release of CO2 into the environment by doing other things that remove carbon dioxide, like planting trees or investing in wind or solar power.
Bolt is a growing part of the transportation ecosystem and, as a result, we hold ourselves responsible for being part of the solution. We’re in the unique and fortunate position of being able to act as a driving force for change both in and outside our industry. We hope that our Green Plan sets an example for other companies to follow, so we can all share the responsibility moving forward.
