But first, let’s back up. What is Formula E? And what does this have to do with Bolt?
Formula E is an international racing series that features fully electric cars. Now in its 9th season, Formula E stands for sustainability in every aspect of motorsport. Energy, efficiency, new technology, and the promotion of non-racing electric cars and brands are all important aspects of Formula E.
Races take place around the world in cars called GEN3 (remember that name, as it’ll come in handy later on in this blog… wink wink). The top speed of a GEN3 car is 320 km/h — it’s the fastest, lightest, most powerful electric race car ever built.
Formula E is back at ExCeL London and thanks to the emissions-free nature of the cars, London features a unique track that weaves its way both inside and outside of the exhibition centre and around the historical heartland of the Royal Docklands; a first for top-level international motorsport. The Brits go well at home, after eight races in the UK capital we’ve seen four home winners – will we see more in Season 9?
Alongside all the action on track, you can expect even more excitement in the Allianz Fan Village – Formula E’s immersive fan festival at the heart of every E-Prix. It’s a full-day’s worth of entertainment, exploration and innovation just waiting for you.
