Understanding your fare

General information

You may have noticed additional information about your fare on your Bolt receipts, such as a Service Fee and charges on journeys taken through major city gateways, including airports, national tunnels and bridges.

All estimated fares will take into account any charges that are anticipated to apply to a journey. Your fare may increase if, for example, your drop-off destination changes mid-journey and an applicable toll then applies.

You can view the details of your fare before confirming your trip by entering your route details and then tapping on the category name in the app. Details about the final fare will also be included in your receipt.

The costs stated below are inclusive of any VAT that may be chargeable.

London Congestion Charge

A fee of £1.50 is added to all trips which start in, go through or end in the Congestion Charge Zone. This will apply 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure there is adequate availability of drivers in Central London and wait times are as short as possible.

Toll road fees

Toll fees will be added to any fare that goes via a paid road or tunnel, such as:

  • Clifton suspension bridge - £1.00
  • Dartford tunnel - £2.50
  • Dulwich tollgate - £1.20
  • Itchen bridge - £1.00
  • Mersey Tunnels (Kingsway and Queensway) - £2.00
  • Tyne tunnel - £1.90
  • M6 Toll - Between £4.60 and £7.10, depending on the time of day

Service Fee

When applicable to your journey, this fee is charged as part of the total fare. The estimated fare displayed to you before confirming your journey will include any applicable Service Fee. The final fee may change if you make amendments to your destination mid-journey.

The Service Fee will be applied and indicated as either:

  • a percentage of the total fare (the applicable percentage rate will be displayed in the app); or
  • a fixed fee.

Note: The Service Fee is not applied to Congestion Charges, toll road fees, or airport fees.
