Substitution allows a Bolt Food delivery partner to appoint another person, known as a substitute, to perform deliveries on their behalf using the Bolt Food Courier App. This guide outlines the key details of the substitution process, including how to appoint a substitute, responsibilities, and payment arrangements.
How to Appoint a Substitute
To appoint a substitute, a delivery partner must notify Bolt’s support team before the substitute begins making deliveries.
To request a substitution, contact Bolt’s support team through the Courier App and provide the following details:
- A clear photo of the substitute’s identification document, including their full name, personal code, date of birth, and expiration date of the document
- Phone number and email of the substitute
- The specific date and time of the substitution
Eligible Substitutes
The substitute must be at least 18 years old. The substitute cannot be someone who is currently suspended or has been terminated from the Bolt Food platform.
Substitution Process
After submitting a substitution request, the primary delivery partner must wait for Bolt ’s support team to process the notification. Depending on the market, the support team might ask for additional information on documents regarding the substitute. The substitute is not allowed to use the partner’s account until the Support Team confirms the substitution. After the substitution has been confirmed, the primary delivery partner has to share their courier account with the substitute.
Responsibilities of the Primary Delivery Partner
The primary delivery partner is the one who enters into a delivery contract with the customer (the eater) through the Bolt Food platform. Therefore, the primary delivery partner remains fully responsible for the fulfilment of the delivery contract, including the quality and safety of deliveries, even when a substitute is appointed to perform the deliveries on their behalf. Additionally, the primary delivery partner must ensure full compliance with Bolt's terms of service, including adherence to the personal data agreement, to safeguard customer information and meet all contractual obligations.
Payment for Substitutes
Bolt will pay all earnings to the primary delivery partner, who is then responsible for compensating the substitute.
Equipment and App Usage
The primary delivery partner is responsible for ensuring the substitute uses proper equipment to meet food safety standards.
For app access, the substitute can either use the primary delivery partner’s phone or download the Bolt Food Courier App onto their own device, logging in with the primary delivery partner’s credentials.
Multiple Substitutes
There is no limit to the number of substitutes a delivery partner can appoint.
