How to use the Bolt Driver app

First, you’ll need to download the app on your smart device and log in with your chosen username and password.

Your login details will be sent directly to your email address after your driver application has been approved.

Using the Bolt driver app is easy:

  1. Swipe right to go online and set your driving radius;
  2. When you get a ride request, you’ll instantly see the pickup address, the distance to the passenger, and the estimated arrival time;
  3. Swipe right to accept the request — you have 20 seconds to do so;
  4. When you have reached the pickup point, swipe right to notify the passenger about your arrival;
  5. When you reach the set destination, swipe right to finish the ride.

Remember: Politeness is key in keeping passengers happy and your rating high.

Dealing with no-show riders

The first 2 minutes of waiting time are free for the passenger. You’ll be compensated for any further delays.

If your passenger hasn’t arrived 4–5 minutes after reaching the pickup point, call them. To do so, tap the three stripes in the upper right corner.

If they don’t answer your call, you can cancel the ride after 5-minutes wait time. Your acceptance rate won’t be affected if you mark “client did not show” as the reason.

Getting your payouts

Customers can pay for their ride in cash or via an in-app payment method (e.g. debit  or credit card). Our payment cycle runs from Monday at 00:00 to Sunday at 23:59, after which you’ll receive a balance statement. The payouts are weekly.

Depending on your bank’s processing time, the funds may take 1–5 business days to appear in your account.

Bolt commission and rewards

Bolt has no monthly or hidden fees — you only pay a commission when you complete rides! There are no minimum or maximum hours, so you can earn as much as you want.

The current commission fee in Malaysia is 15%.

Please contact us via malaysia-signup@bolt-drivers.com for detailed information.

You can earn bonuses by driving during the busiest hours, such as the mornings, evenings, or bad weather.
