What to Expect at Your CoF Inspection

Before your inspection, make sure your vehicle meets all safety and compliance standards. If you drive a hatchback or station wagon, you may need to secure items in your boot—a cargo net is an affordable option, available at stores like SuperCheap Auto and Repco. You may also need to fill out a “Change of Vehicle Use” form and purchase a child lock safety sticker.

Ensure your vehicle is clean and well-maintained.
Secure loose items in the boot (cargo net recommended).
Complete a “Change of Vehicle Use” form if required.
Buy a child lock safety sticker if needed.
Rental Vehicle Requirements

Using a Rental Car for Ride-Hailing

If you use a rental car for ride-hailing, be aware that while these vehicles usually have a Certificate of Fitness (CoF), they may not have a Certificate of Loading (CoL), which is also required for ride-hailing. Always check that your vehicle meets all legal requirements before starting work.

Rental cars may have CoF but not always CoL.
CoL is required for ride-hailing services.
Confirm all documents before driving.
Carrying Passengers Within Limits

Carrying Passengers Within Limits

As a licensed operator, you must not carry more passengers or weight than allowed under your vehicle’s Certificate of Loading (CoL). This applies to both personal and rental vehicles. Overloading can result in fines and breaches of your operating obligations.

Never exceed the passenger or weight limits on your CoL.
Applies to all vehicle types.
Overloading can lead to fines and penalties.
