Do I need an IDP?
This depends on where your driving licence was issued. If your country is on the list below, no IDP is needed:
Albania, Austria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong (SAR), Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uzbekistan.
If your country isn't listed, you'll need to obtain an IDP before travelling to the UAE. An IDP (also known as an International Driving Licence) is a UN-regulated travel document that allows you to drive in many countries without taking additional driving tests. It is only valid when used alongside your home country driving licence.
