I was charged more than expected

Your final price may be increased for the following reasons:

  • Bundled payment: Your payment was grouped with charges from previous rides.
  • Unfinished ride: You may have forgotten to end the ride, resulting in extra time being charged.
  • Fines: A fine was added to your ride cost.
  • Negative balance: Your Bolt balance was negative, so it was automatically included in this payment.
  • Trip crossed midnight: If your ride continued past midnight, the daily maximum rate only applied to the part of the ride before midnight.
  • Pre-authorisation: We temporarily reserved a higher amount to verify your payment method

The pre-authorised amount is automatically released after your ride. Depending on your bank’s processing times, the amount can take up to 14 days to appear in your account.

  • Go to the app menu
  • Select the My rides
  • Tap on your ride to see the price breakdown
