How to become a Taxi Driver in Cyprus
According to the provisions of Law 80(I)/2011, the Department of Road Transport grants a professional license to individuals who wish to pursue the profession of a taxi driver (Category T).
To obtain a professional taxi driver's license, the applicant must meet the following requirements.
Check out the steps below on how to complete this requirement.
Age
Must be between 21 and 70 years old.
Normal Driver's License
Must have held a Category B driver's license for at least 2 years.
Criminal Record Check
A Criminal Record Certificate is required to obtain a Professional Driver's License.
Physical Fitness
A Physical Fitness Certificate issued by a registered doctor is required. If over 60 years old, a medical certificate from a government medical board is necessary.
Taxi Driving License
The applicant must hold a Professional Driver Training Certificate for taxi drivers, which is obtained after passing written examinations (only applicable for the issuance of the Professional Driver’s License).

Public Assistance Declaration
Must provide a signed declaration stating that they are not receiving public assistance for health reasons.
Photographs
Must submit three photographs for the initial issuance and two photographs for the renewal of the license.
