If you’re a London taxi driver, odds are you probably know that we launched a black cab category earlier this year. With the support of hundreds of interested drivers, we were able to launch and provide the opportunity of introducing Bolt customers to one of the best ways to travel around London.
Tapping into the expertise and knowledge that London taxi drivers possess has been a humbling experience for the Bolt team. When we launched Bolt Black Cab we understood that there might be mixed opinions from the London taxi community (and that’s okay) but if you’re willing to hear us out, we’ve got a few great reasons why you should give Bolt a go.
Earning money by driving with Bolt is really simple — you’ll earn full metered fares for every trip.
You’ll receive a weekly payout (usually on Mondays) and can request a same-day cashout for a small fee of 50p. Your payout also includes any tips that you may have received from passengers the week prior. You’ll keep 100% of your tips made while driving.
Many taxi drivers enjoy generating their income by completing jobs made by finding customers hailing a cab from the street and if that works best, we highly encourage you to continue doing it.
However, we notice that many taxi drivers have decided to use the Bolt Driver app during quieter periods of time and some have integrated it into their daily driving schedule.
We’ve worked closely with London taxi drivers to make sure the category is tailor-made to include features that they want to have in a driving app. We even introduced a unique taxi driver customer service line just for London taxi drivers.
We also frequently gather feedback from taxi drivers to learn what’s working and what could be improved. This real-time feedback loop has already allowed us to improve the way certain information was displayed in the Bolt app earlier this spring.
