Meet Bolt Flex: Choose how you earn with Bolt

We surveyed thousands of driver partners nationwide about their driving preferences, and consistent feedback emerged: private-hire drivers across the UK seek greater flexibility and autonomy.
We listened. From 26 June 2025 onwards, we’ll be gradually rolling out a new set of features in the Bolt Driver app. This update gives UK driver partners the unique ability to create different profiles, choose how they earn, select the benefits that suit them best, and access new features that offer greater flexibility and autonomy.
This unique change will only be available to drivers licensed in Sheffield from 26 June 2025 and will gradually become available across the UK.

Choose how you earn
Two profiles, one app. Meet Bolt Standard and Bolt Flex, two distinctive driver profiles in the Bolt app — each with its own features and benefits.
As a private-hire driver, your profile type defines how you’ll earn, who you provide services to, and which features and benefits are available to you. When you register for more than one profile, you can switch between them anytime, depending on your preferences.
Check out our short video here.
When driving with Bolt Standard, the Bolt Standard Terms will apply. Please review the terms here. If you’ve already opened an account with Bolt, you will have agreed to and accepted these terms. When driving with Bolt Flex, Bolt Flex Terms will apply. These terms will be available on Bolt’s website from 26 June. If you decide to open a Bolt Flex account, you’ll need to read and accept these new terms as part of the setup process.
Meet Bolt Flex
From 26 June 2025, if licensed in Sheffield, you can choose between 2 profiles in the Bolt Driver app — Bolt Standard or Bolt Flex.
When switching to Bolt Flex, you can drive as usual, access different features, get paid differently, and provide service directly to passengers.
Your rides. Your rates.
Drive with a flat commission
With Bolt Flex, a flat commission will be applied to the ride fare. Benefit from a 12% commission rate until July 31,2025. After that, a standard rate of 18% will apply.
After each trip, in the price confirmation screen, you’ll see how much a passenger paid, any additional tolls or fees, and your net earnings.
Set your own price
Once you switch to Bolt Flex, you’ll have the option to set your own price or set a different price for each ride. You’ll also be able to receive offers directly from passengers — you can either accept or make a counter-offer. Ride offers will appear as a list of cards.
We’ve made the process as simple as possible. With the option to set your minimum price per mile, you can automatically accept any matching ride offers. No back-and-forth needed unless you want it.
What is Bolt Standard
As an existing private-hire driver in the UK driving on the Bolt platform, your current profile is Bolt Standard. It includes National Living Wage and Holiday Pay Supplements (Bolt Boost), as well as optional pension contributions.
You can keep the same profile and benefits or switch to Bolt Flex according to your personal preferences..
As a reminder, you can see your net earnings and an estimated Holiday Pay Supplement for each ride on the ride request and completion screens. You can also find this information in your ride history.
To access your National Living Wage top-ups or view details about your voluntary pension contributions (if you’ve opted in), check the Earnings section of the Bolt Driver app at the beginning of each week. You’ll see updated information based on your earnings from the previous week.

With Bolt Flex, you're entirely in control. Subject to council conditions, you choose when and how often you drive — no pressure or commitment required.
If you’re already familiar with Bolt Link, Bolt Flex will provide you with even more earning possibilities.
- Link licensed private hire drivers who might want to drive occasionally on your behalf and negotiate the terms on which they can drive your car.
- Delegate rides to your linked drivers directly from the Bolt app when receiving ride requests.
- Earn additional money from your vehicle(s) even when not behind the wheel and share it with the linked drivers on any terms you agree on.
Please note: You can still access Bolt Link with Bolt Standard, but you won’t be able to delegate rides in real time.
