ULEZ is expanding in London from October 25th, 2021

22 Oct 2021

The Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is expanding in the city of London from October 25th, 2021.

Initially implemented in Central London by TfL and the city of London, the ULEZ aims to improve London’s air quality by reducing the number of polluting cars on the road.

How does it work?

All cars circulating within the Ultra Low Emission zone must meet the minimum emissions standards, or a daily charge of £12.5 must be paid. The daily charge runs 24 hours, seven days a week (except Christmas Day).

You can check if your vehicle meets pollution standards with TfL’s vehicle checkerNote that meeting those requirements will not exempt you from the daily congestion charge when driving in Central London.

Where is the ULEZ?

The new zone will be 18 times the current central area covering all areas within the North and South Circular. The North and South Circular roads themselves aren’t in the zone so you can drive on the A406 and A205 road without being charged.
