Drivers who are licensed by Watford Borough Council must provide the documents listed below to be considered for driving on the Bolt platform.
Please follow the instructions carefully to have your documents successfully reviewed for account activation:
- DVLA Driving Licence
- DVLA Check Code
- Private Hire or Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver's Licence
- Private Hire or Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence
- MOT Test Certificate
- V5C Logbook, New Keeper Slip or E-logbook
- Insurance Certificate
- Bank Statement
- Profile Picture
DVLA Driving Licence
Requirements
- Must be a photograph of the front of the current UK DVLA Plastic Driving Licence
- Must be a full licence, not provisional
- Address (including postcode) must match with your Private Hire Driver's Licence

DVLA Check Code
We require the check code to retrieve the PDF of the driving summary, which will be used as validation for your DVLA Driving Licence.
Requirements
- Must be generated on the government webpage ↗ or by calling the DVLA ↗
- Must be a combination of letters and numbers exactly as shown on the webpage — the code is case-sensitive (please underline the capital letters if you are copying the code)
Important: Each code is valid for 21 days and can only be used once.

Private Hire or Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver's Licence


- Must be issued by Watford Borough Council
- Must be a photograph of the front of the current Private Hire or Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver's Licence
- Your Name, Badge Number, Address and Expiry Date must be clearly shown
Private Hire or Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence


- Must be issued by Watford Borough Council
- Must be a clear photograph of the entire page
- Must be a valid Private Hire or Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence
MOT Test Certificate

- Must be the full document
- The certificate must state Pass
- The certificate must be valid — expiry date must be in the future
Note: Vehicles that are less than 1 year old do not need this document.
V5C Logbook, New Keeper Slip or E-logbook
- Vehicle registration and Vehicle Keeper details must be visible
- New Keeper Slip will be accepted for a period of 2 months from the day of transfer or sale — the document must show the document reference number and the car registration number
Insurance Certificate
Requirements
- If you have a Private Hire Vehicle Licence then the insurance policy must state for Private Hire or Hire and Reward.
- For Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence the insurance policy must cover Public Hire/Hackney Carriage use
- Make sure that the insurance policy does not have any typos in your name
- Insurance documents with time restrictions on coverage are not accepted
If you rent a car:
- Fleet insurance policy certification and any other supporting documents such as Policy Schedule (Driver and Vehicle schedule) or a Permission letter
Bank Statement
- Must be for the same account that you will receive your Bolt payments to
- The account must be in your name:
- We accept only personal bank details (including joint personal accounts)
- Sole trader business accounts (where the account holder name matches your legal name / sole trader name)
- The sort code and account number must be visible
- The financial details of the transactions can be excluded from the statement (cropped or blurred out)
Profile Picture
- Visible to clients on Bolt passenger App
- Matches the requirements
