Earlier this year, we embarked on one of our most significant projects, Seedbolts, to reduce our environmental impact as a company.
We teamed up with Seedballs Kenya to spread 25 tonnes of indigenous seeds (the equivalent of planting 11 million tree seeds) to neutralise CO2 emissions.
11 million plus trees planted and counting
Kenya’s natural resource base has been under increasing strain due to population growth, coastal erosion, deforestation, poor land management, and climate change.
So, we focused on rehabilitating damaged land with the hope of reaching the 10% recommended forest cover.
The last few months have seen us on the road and in the air working on hitting our goal. And through the support of our committed partners and the local communities who believe in our reforestation project, we’ve delivered over 14 million seedballs for distribution.
A lifetime commitment
Seedbolts represents our long-term commitment to reducing our ecological impact.
Through the project, we aim to conserve and restore ecological diversity, safely remove invasive species, protect farmland and breeding grounds, reduce fire risks, and improve food security.
We’re committed to doing more for our planet by being responsible stewards of the earth. And as we continue to scale our business globally, we’ll further reduce our environmental impact via new projects.
A Seedbolt order for a greener tomorrow
We want to do all we can to help preserve the environment for generations to come.
To play your part, you can now order a Seedbolt by selecting the Seedbolt category in the app. You’ll then receive a free bag of seedballs from your driver to take home and plant at your own will!
For questions on seed-balling best practices, you can visit the Seedballs Kenya website.
We still believe the most sustainable means of transport is walking. But if you need a fast, affordable ride, try the Bolt app.
