What is Bolt Card? A wallet and Visa card (virtual, plus an optional physical card) inside the Bolt Driver app, provided by Airwallex. Your earnings are credited to the wallet after each completed ride, and you can pay with the card or transfer money to your bank account.
Where can I find Bolt Card in the app? Open the side menu. Bolt Card sits between Earnings and Trip history. The row only appears if you can get the card, and there is nothing to turn on.
Who provides the card and wallet? Airwallex, a regulated financial services company, provides the wallet, the card and all the financial services. Bolt integrates them into the Driver app. Airwallex holds the money and issues the card, so you may see the Airwallex name in the app. That is normal. When you join, you accept the Airwallex Cardholder Terms & Conditions. An offer shown inside the official Bolt Driver app is genuine.
Who can get Bolt Card? Bolt Card is being offered gradually in France, so it may not be available to you yet. It is available to drivers who work as sole proprietors or solo fleets. If a fleet pays you, you can't get the card yet. If you can't see it yet, you don't need to do anything: access is expanding over time.
Do I need to verify my identity again? Usually not. Airwallex uses the documents and photos you already provided to Bolt. If more information is needed, the app shows exactly which selfie or document photo to send. Use a real photo of the document (not a scan or screenshot), keep all four corners visible, and send one document per photo. If the app shows "This feature isn't available for your account", Airwallex could not approve the account and Bolt Card can't be used. If you already asked for the card and nothing happened, open it from the side menu: either the card is there, or a document is requested and you answer that request there. There is no email for that document.
How do payouts work? Your earnings are credited to your wallet after each completed ride, instead of a weekly payout to your bank account. The credit appears shortly after the ride ends. If a ride has an open price review, it's credited once the review is closed. Money that was already in your Bolt balance moves over with your next completed ride. There is no Monday payout to your bank after you sign up.
What happens with cash rides? On cash rides you already have the money, so Bolt's commission is taken from your wallet balance. If cash rides outweigh in-app rides, your balance can become negative. Your next earnings cover the negative amount first.
What can I use Bolt Card for? You can pay in shops, online, and for subscriptions that charge a Visa card, for example fuel, charging, parking, groceries, or meals. Visa blocks some payments, including bets and loan repayments.
How do I get a virtual card? It's created automatically when you join Bolt Card, and it's ready to use straight away.
How do I get a physical card? The physical card is optional and is being offered gradually, so not every driver has the option yet. If you do, tap "Get a physical card" in the wallet.
How is the physical card delivered? By untracked post (DHL) to your home address, usually within 7 to 21 days. You must activate it in the app before use: it is not active on arrival.
Can I withdraw cash from ATMs? No. Cash withdrawals at ATMs are not available with Bolt Card in France. You can transfer money from the wallet to your bank account at any time.
How do I transfer money to my bank account? Open Bolt Card and tap Send to transfer money to your registered bank account whenever you like. Transfers are in euros, within Europe. The money usually arrives within minutes, though some banks take a few days.
Can I use early cashout? No. Early cashout isn't available with Bolt Card, because your earnings are already on the card. To move money to your bank, open Bolt Card and tap Send.
Can I add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay? Yes, manually for now:
- Open the side menu and tap Bolt Card.
- Tap the card and open the card details.
- Copy the card number, the expiry date, and the security code. Each line has its own copy button, so copy them one at a time.
- On your phone, open Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
- Tap Add card and paste each detail when it asks.
- When it asks for the bank, select Airwallex.
- Enter the code it sends you.
You need the card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet to pay by tapping your phone in a shop. To pay online, you can use the card number directly.
What are the fees?
- Getting the card: free, with no minimum balance
- Card purchases (in shops and online): free
- Bank transfers: 5 free per month, then €0.10 per transfer that month
- ATM withdrawals: not available
- Monthly or account maintenance fee: none
- Paying in another currency: no fee from Bolt or Airwallex (the merchant or card network may charge)
Fees are set by Airwallex and can change. The current fees are always shown in the app.
What are the spending limits?
- Monthly spend limit: €15,000
- Transaction limit: €3,000
How do I get a statement for my accounting?
- Open the side menu and tap Bolt Card.
- Open Transactions and stay on All.
- Tap the download icon, then Get statement.
- Pick this month, or a custom date range.
- Choose PDF or CSV.
- Tap Create statement, then Download.
The file includes earnings that have landed and card payments that have settled. A payment from today can be missing until it settles. You decide what to deduct as a business cost and keep your receipts, and you share the file with your accountant yourself. A transfer to your bank can show as Airwallex, not Bolt.
Why is an amount still "pending"? A pending transaction is not final. While it's pending, it shows the amount the merchant reserved, which can be higher than the final amount. At fuel stations, a higher amount is reserved when you pay at the pump: the difference is a hold, not a charge. The money is not lost and is released automatically, which can take up to 10 days. Bolt is working with Airwallex to make this faster.
My Bolt Card payment was declined. What can I check? Check your balance first, an empty balance is a common reason. If you tapped your phone to pay, the card has to be in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. At a fuel pump, pay inside the station: the pump can hold more than your balance, and then the payment is declined. If it still fails, contact support.
What if I spot a transaction I don't recognize? Go to Card, select the transaction, and choose "Report issue". This goes directly to the Airwallex review team. Pending transactions can't be reported until they are final. If you didn't make the transaction, lock your card right away under Card actions.
I'm not receiving my verification code. What can I do? Codes are sent by SMS to the phone number linked to your wallet, with email as a backup. This number is changed inside the wallet, not in the Bolt app: open the wallet, enter your passcode, confirm with the code sent to your old number, then enter your new number. If you no longer have access to the old phone, tap "I don't have access to the phone" to receive the code by email. Changing your number only in the Bolt app doesn't update it for your card. If you're locked out, contact support.
I forgot my passcode. What do I do? Tap "Forgot passcode" on the lock screen. The reset link comes by email.
Why can't support see my card details? Your card details are held securely by Airwallex and aren't accessible to Bolt support. Never share your card number, CVV or verification codes in chat. Bolt will never call you and ask you to read out a code or a password.
I lost my card, what do I do? Your virtual card is still in the app. If you lost the physical card, lock it immediately in the wallet under Card actions, then contact support to get a replacement. Your balance stays on your wallet.
Does Bolt Card change how much I earn? No. Your earnings are unchanged. Only the destination changes: your earnings go to your Bolt Card wallet instead of directly to your bank account.
Is Bolt Card mandatory? How do I switch back to weekly payouts? No, it's optional. There is no button to switch back. First tap Send and move your whole balance to your bank, so nothing is left behind. Then contact support, ask to go back to the weekly bank payout, and tell us why you want to stop using the card. You're switched back to weekly payouts, and the card is closed once the balance is zero.
