Driving with Bolt - 6 perks you probably didn't know about

By now, you’ve probably used a ride-sharing service like Bolt and may even be considering becoming a Bolt driver! If you have a newer car and fancy a more flexible schedule, you might be able to take advantage and start driving for Bolt, to make a little extra money! In this blog post, we’ll explain some of the reasons why you should be super-interested in joining us as a driver!

The concept is really simple – the more you drive, the more money goes into your pocket. But that’s not even the best bit! In order for you to earn extra, we’ve put in place an incentive system that guarantees you higher earnings at different times of the day.

Perks for Bolt drivers

Signing up as a Bolt driver comes with loads of perks, here are just a few of them:

  • average monthly earnings of up to – KES 105,000 per month;
  • low commission charges;
  • bonus campaigns for active drivers;
  • Total fuel discounts – KES 3.5 off per litre;
  • 4.25% personal insurance and medical cover by Pesa Bazaar;
  • unlimited car washes for only KES 200 with Extreme Clean;
  • Safety Response for Drivers in partnership with Nairobi Rescue.

Sounds good, right? Here’s some more details

1. Bonuses

Always be on the lookout for bonuses! We constantly organise campaigns dedicated to active drivers. To qualify, drivers must fulfil the requirements set for that specific bonus. Bonus entry requirements may involve completing a minimum number of rides within a given time period, maintaining a set acceptance rate or generating high ratings.

2.  Fuel discounts with Total

To help drivers spend less money on fuel and thus increase their earnings, all Bolt drivers receive discount perks in Total Kenya petrol stations at KES 3.5 per litre and subsidised prices on products. To apply, please visit the Bolt office, where you can fill-in a Total card application form. Bring along a copy of your ID card and KRA pin. The card costs KES 200, which can be paid via MPESA to Total’s pay bill number which will be issued to you at the point of application.

3. Car wash discounts

Additionally, all Bolt drivers who visit Extreme Clean will be able to wash their cars at special prices! Drivers will be able to receive unlimited car washes at any Extreme Clean branch for just KES 200. On top of that, after every 10 washes, Extreme Clean will top up drivers’ Total fuel cards with KES 300/- via MPESA, as a way of saying “thank you”!

4. Personal and medical insurance

With the help of Pesa Bazaar, Bolt drivers can now easily afford to purchase both third-party and medical insurance. Drivers on the Bolt platform are entitled to 4.25% personal insurance and medical cover by Pesa Bazaar.

5. AA driver training

To ensure that those who have signed up to Bolt can commit to our strict safety requirements, we provide additional technical driver training and certification with AA motors.

6. App safety features

There’s no need to stress about safety. The Bolt app has a built-in emergency feature for drivers, connected to Nairobi Rescue, our first responder partner. Emergency support is immediate and available 24/7.
