From 1 January 2026, Lithuanian law requires service providers who interact directly with customers to be able to communicate in Lithuanian at a basic (A1) level. This information is provided for guidance purposes and reflects current regulatory expectations.
This requirement applies to courier partners using the Bolt platform when interacting with customers or merchants, in line with applicable local regulations.
If you deliver to customers or interact with merchants, you may need to meet this requirement to comply with local legal obligations.
The goal is clearer day-to-day communication. You don't need to be fluent from day one — basic phrases for greetings, directions, and delivery situations are a good place to begin.
Below, you’ll find free resources, paid courses (some of which may offer discounts for Bolt partners), and a practical phrasebook you can use during deliveries.
The resources below are provided for convenience. Bolt does not endorse or take responsibility for third-party services.
We recommend starting early to allow time to build basic skills. Regular practice over time usually works better than last-minute cramming.
Practical tips for learning Lithuanian
Consistency matters more than intensity. Pick a few habits that fit your routine, and add more as you go.
- Set aside time every day.15–30 minutes daily is more effective than long, irregular sessions. Try blocking time before or after you go online.
- Use what’s around you.Read labels, signs, and shop names. Listen to local radio, music, or podcasts during downtime.
- Practise talking.Progress is often fastest when you use the language. Start with short exchanges in shops and cafés, or practise with a friend.
- Learn new words.Aim for up to 10 words daily, focusing on greetings, numbers, delivery terms, and food items. Use sticky notes or flashcards.
- Explore the city.Exhibitions, museums, and cultural events often feature Lithuanian materials, helping you learn while getting to know your surroundings.
- Track progress.Keep a simple checklist of what you’ve learned, and review it every few weeks.
Most importantly, be patient. Progress can be uneven, so focus on small wins and steady improvement.
