Bolt Commission Fee
Bolt earns commissions in all markets in which it operates.
In Malta, we charge a commission of 20% on the price of each trip.
Important information
about Commission
The commission applies to both cash and card journeys.
Commission does not apply to tips, bonuses, cancellation fees and booking fees.
The commission will be calculated automatically and reflected directly in your app. You can view it by clicking on the Earnings tab from the app homepage.
If you fail to pay the commission, your cash ride option will be temporarily suspended due to debt.
In the meantime, you will only be able to make journeys with card payments.
Income and earnings
Every month, Bolt sends an invoice for the services provided. The invoice is a summary in which you will see your earnings, received bonuses and deducted commission for all trips of the previous month.
Invoices are generated by our system and sent to drivers within the first three days of the month.
Below you will find a short explanation of the invoice.
Commission fee - is a fee applied to all trips you complete during the specified period;
Account Balance – The top of the table shows the account balance you had at the beginning of the month, and the bottom shows the balance you have at the end of the month. If the balance is positive at the end of the month, it will be paid with the next payment (and will be added to the line Payments for the next month);
The amount of mobile payments – is the amount you received for trips that were not paid for in cash;
Compensations – the amount of compensation added to you during the specified period;
Total – applied Bolt commission amount (equal to the amount in the Period Accounts section);
You have to pay VAT on this amount.
Due – If this amount is 0.00, you do not owe, so no action is required. If the amount is not equal to 0.00, the missing amount should be transferred to Bolt's bank account.
Cancellation fees
Unlike commission, cancellation fees are paid to the driver by Bolt when the passenger cancels a ride they had booked.
The amount of compensation in the event of cancellation varies depending on the category assigned to the vehicle at the time of the journey.
It also varies depending on the type of journey: scheduled or regular journeys.
