Driver’s Permit TAG
To obtain a Driver's Permit and Tag, you must meet the following requirements:
– Have a Category B driving Licence. – Speak Maltese or English fluently. – Be of good repute and conduct. – To apply for your first Driver Permit and Tag, submit a completed DPA 13 form by post or hand personally at Transport Malta (A3 Towers, Triq l-Arkata, Paola).
In addition to the form, you'll need to provide the following: – Clean Criminal Record Sheet. – Medical Certificate. – Copy of Residence Card. – Payment of €12.00 for the issuance of the Driver Permit and Tag. – Payment of €10.00 for the licence upgrade.
After that, you must complete a customer care course to receive a Taxi Driver and Area Knowledge Certificate (TDAKC).
– To renew your existing Driver Permit and Tag, submit a completed DPA 14 form personally at Transport Malta (A3 Towers, Triq l-Arkata, Paola or Triq Pantar, Ħal Lija).
In addition to the form, you'll need to provide the following:
– Criminal Record Sheet. – Medical certificate.

VAT Certificate

Police Conduct Certificate
You can obtain a Police Conduct Certificate:
– Offline at the Criminal Records Office. – Online using the following link.
It usually takes up to 4 working days to be issued the Certificate
Driving Licence
If your driving licence was issued in any EU Member State, feel free to use it in Malta.
If your driving licence was issued outside of the EU, you must apply for a Maltese driving licence.
The UK, UAE, EEU, Australia, and Switzerland driving licences can be easily exchanged for a Maltese one.
Inner Lane Access (Airport Sticker)
To register Y-plate vehicles for inner lane access, applicants are to submit an application form at Malta International Airport’s Main Car Park Kiosk.
The application form may be obtained from the Main carpark Kiosk or by sending an email request to [email protected]
Once you have the form, kindly bring your logbook together with the application form to the Main Car Park Kiosk, which is open 24/7.
