How to Register Your Vehicle as a Taxi
Follow these steps to register your vehicle as a taxi in the Netherlands. This guide covers inspections, costs, insurance, and adding your car to the Bolt app.
Step 1: Make an Appointment at RDW
Schedule an inspection appointment at the RDW to register your vehicle as a taxi. The process usually takes about 1 day and costs approximately €70.
Step 2: Buy Blue License Plates
After your vehicle passes inspection, purchase blue license plates. This process takes about 10 minutes.
Step 3: Install and Approve a BCT
Install a Board Computer Taxi (BCT) in your vehicle and have it approved. This step takes about 10 minutes. It takes 2 days and costs €2550.
Step 4: Take Out Taxi Insurance
Obtain taxi insurance for your vehicle. The process takes about 2 days and costs approximately €2,550. Expect ongoing costs of a few hundred euros per month.
Step 5: Add Your Vehicle in the Bolt App
Add your vehicle to the Bolt app. This takes about 10 minutes. You will receive a response to your request within 24 hours on working days.
