What is a Driver Card?
The driver card is an official identification document for taxi drivers in the Netherlands. It is used to record driving and rest times in the taxi’s on-board computer (BCT). The card is issued by the KIWA Register on behalf of the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management.

Start Your Application
Step 1: Request the Application Set from KIWA
Begin your driver card application by requesting the official application set from KIWA. This is the first step to becoming a licensed taxi driver.

Step 2: Get Your Taxi Diploma
Obtain your taxi diploma by passing the required exam. This is a mandatory qualification for all taxi drivers in the Netherlands.

Background Check
Step 3: Request a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG)
Apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) to confirm your suitability to work as a taxi driver. This process can take several weeks.

Health Check
Step 4: Request a Medical Certificate
Obtain a medical certificate to prove you are fit to drive professionally. This step includes a health check and a fee.
