What is the Bolt Drive reaction test?

The reaction test is a quick safety check that some users must complete before booking a Bolt Drive car. It measures how quickly you respond to a visual prompt in the app. This feature was introduced to improve road safety and comply with local regulations.

Why do I need to take a reaction test?

Latvia has introduced changes to its Road Traffic Law that require additional safety measures for carsharing services.

The reaction test helps detect potential driving under the influence and ensures that drivers are alert before starting a trip.

How does the reaction test work?

When you try to reserve a Bolt Drive car, the app may ask you to complete a short reaction test

  1. A traffic light illustration will appear on the screen.
  2. The light will change from “Turned OFF” to “Turned ON.”
  3. Tap the traffic light as quickly as possible when it turns on.
  4. The app measures your reaction time.

If your reaction time is within the allowed range, you can continue booking the car as usual.

What happens if I fail the reaction test?

If your reaction time is too slow:

  • You can retry the test up to 3 times.
  • If you pass during these attempts, you can proceed with your car booking.

What happens if I fail all attempts?

If you do not pass the test after all attempts:

  • You will not be able to book a Bolt Drive car for 3 hours.
  • The app will suggest using ride-hailing instead.
  • After 3 hours, you can try the reaction test again.

Will the reaction test affect my booking if I pass?

No. If you pass the reaction test, your car will be reserved normally and the rest of the booking process will continue as usual.
