In 2018, Monica Ayebilla faced a daunting challenge when she lost her banking job due to a series of bank closures and mergers.

Struggling with unemployment, Monica’s journey took an unexpected turn in 2022 when she explored business opportunities with the money she’d acquired. Little did she know that this decision would lead her to break barriers and inspire inclusion in the male-dominated ride-hailing industry.

With no driving experience, Monica invested in a car to enter the ride-hailing business. Initially, she entrusted the vehicle to a driver to make sales on her behalf. But the driver’s negligence prompted Monica to take matters into her own hands. Determined to turn her fortunes around, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Learning to drive and overcoming challenges

Despite initial setbacks, Monica’s resilience shone through — she enrolled at a driving school and passed in just 2 weeks!

Armed with her newly acquired skills and documents, she wasted no time signing up to drive with Bolt. Navigating the roads and mastering phone maps presented challenges, but Monica’s determination fuelled her progress.
