About the role

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Leading Bolt’s regulatory, compliance, and political communications within South Africa, ensuring strategic alignment with Bolt's objectives and operational needs.
  • Providing expertise on complex regulatory and compliance frameworks, assisting commercial teams in navigating these challenges to drive Bolt's initiatives forward.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with regulators, political figures, business partners, and other relevant stakeholders to promote Bolt's interests and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensuring Bolt’s operations comply with all local licensing conditions, including conducting regular audits and managing the acquisition of new licenses as needed.
  • Collaboratively drafting and implementing strategic plans with commercial and product teams to meet local objectives and navigate the policy landscape effectively.
  • Managing Bolt’s public messaging and corporate communications within South Africa, including crafting responses to media inquiries and fostering a positive public image.
  • Overseeing consultant public affairs agencies to ensure cohesive and effective public policy strategies that align with Bolt's goals in South Africa.

About you:

  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in legal, compliance, public policy, or regulatory roles, preferably with a focus on the South African market.
  • Educated to degree level, likely with graduate studies.
  • A deep understanding of the regulatory and licensing landscape within South Africa, especially as it pertains to mobility services.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing impactful public policy strategies and corporate communications within a complex regulatory environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively translating complex regulatory issues into clear, actionable guidance for both internal teams and external partners.
  • A proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with governmental and regulatory bodies, as well as other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management, prioritisation, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Resilience, confidence, and a willingness to engage in robust discussions to advocate for Bolt's position.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in additional local languages highly regarded.
