Taxi Medallion

To operate a vehicle as a taxi, it must be linked to a Medallion.

A Medallion is a certificate issued by Local Authorities that has a unique identification number. When a Medallion is linked to a vehicle, it allows that vehicle to operate as a taxi in accordance with local regulations. In Cyprus, the number of Medallions is limited and allocated per city. You can acquire a Medallion either by renting or purchasing one.

Once a driver has obtained a Medallion, they must visit the Citizen Service Center to register the vehicle as a taxi and officially link the Medallion to the specific car.

Please note: Each Medallion can only be linked to one vehicle at a time.

Have a car and a title deed under the driver's name

Link the medallion with the driver's car

Validate the taximeter is working correctly and with the latest fares

Pass the Road Transport Department vehicle check, making sure all the requirements are met

Issue car insurance from the Motor Insurers' Fund
