What is a pick-up code?

It's a simple verification tool that puts you in control. When enabled, the Bolt app generates a unique 4-digit code for every ride.

Your driver cannot start the journey until you share this code with them. It’s a quick handshake that confirms 2 things:

You’re safely seated in the correct vehicle.
You’re ready to go.

Why switch pick-up codes on

While this feature is great for everyone, it's especially useful for business travellers or anyone paying by card.

How to enable pick-up codes

Setting it up takes seconds, and you only need to do it once:

Open the Bolt app.
Head to your Settings or the Safety menu.
Select the Pick-up code and toggle it on.

How it works on your next ride

Once the feature is active, you will see your 4-digit code in the app as soon as your driver arrives.

When you open the car door and get settled, simply read the code out to your driver. They will enter it into their app, the ride will officially begin, and you’ll be on your way.
