Bolt-partnership-with-Starship-Technologies

Last year, we announced our partnership with Starship Technologies, the world leader in autonomous delivery services.

Today, we’re excited to share that our collaboration is taking a big step forward with our first launch in Estonia.

Our customers in Tallinn can now have their groceries delivered by autonomous Starship robots from these Bolt Market locations:

  • Tulika
  • Pallasti
  • Mustika

Yes, the robots look very cute, but don’t underestimate them!

These clever little robots have completed 7 million deliveries worldwide. They can carry up to three shopping bags and deliver within a 3km radius of stores.

Partnering with Starship Technologies adds another layer of convenience and sustainability to our service.

“With Starship robot deliveries in Tallinn, we’re offering Bolt Market customers a quick and easy delivery experience. This partnership reflects our shared roots in Estonian innovation and brings more convenience and choice to the local community.”

Jevgeni Kabanov, President of Bolt

How does robot delivery work?

You may have already seen these cute robots rolling around and wondered how to get your groceries delivered by one. It’s easy:

  1. Open Bolt Food and shop from Bolt Market Tulika, Pallasti, or Mustika.
  2. Select ‘robot delivery’ at checkout and place the order.
  3. Meet the robot outside and unlock it with the Bolt Food app.
  4. Grab your items from the robot’s compartment.

Fun fact: these robots are electrically powered, with the average delivery using as little energy as it takes to boil a kettle for a single cup of tea. 🍵

Joint success with Starship Technologies

Here are some impressive global numbers from Starship Technologies:

  • Over 7 million deliveries completed worldwide. 📦
  • More than 14 million kilometres travelled over 100 locations around the world. 🌏
  • 150,000 roads safely crossed every day (that’s three per second!). 🚸

The numbers in Tallinn, where we first rolled out the joint service, are also growing steadily.  So far, robot deliveries have covered 28 square kilometres around the city.

These early results are a great sign of increasing demand for this service.

“We’re thrilled to launch with Bolt, bringing autonomous food delivery to more customers in Tallinn. This partnership offers not only convenience and choice but also a sustainable, scalable solution that reduces local traffic and emissions. It’s an exciting step forward as we pave the way towards greener cities across Europe.”

Ahti Heinla, Co-founder and CEO of Starship Technologies

Looking ahead

We’re excited to keep expanding robot deliveries with Starship Technologies, giving our users even more convenient and sustainable ways to receive their orders.

If you’re in Tallinn, you can already try this service out. Stay tuned for updates as we bring this service to more locations!
