Back in 2022, we launched our very first paid Legal internship with just 3 participants. Fast forward to 2024, and we’ve welcomed our fourth cohort, opening our HQ doors to 9 talented interns, each bringing their own unique background, ambitions, and takeaways.

In this article, we’ve compiled insights from our recent interns. Before applying, take a moment to explore their experiences — why they chose Bolt, what their days looked like, and why they recommend this internship.
Each intern had their own reason for applying to Bolt’s Legal Internship — some were drawn to the company’s rapid growth and global impact, while others sought hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. Here’s what inspired them to take the leap:
For some, Bolt represented an opportunity to get real-world legal experience at a company that has reshaped mobility and tech. Yelizaveta, one of last year’s interns, summarised it simply: “The possibility to gain practical experience from the Estonian Unicorn… and 3 rejections before.”
Another intern, Juri, who had already worked in Bolt Food and Micromobility Customer Support, saw the Legal internship as the perfect way to expand his understanding of the company: “This internship gave me a chance to explore a new vertical at Bolt and see processes I wasn’t aware of before.”
Several interns had firsthand experience with Bolt long before they applied. Whether moving to a new country and using the service or simply noticing Bolt’s presence, they felt a natural pull toward the company.
“After moving to Stockholm, I saw Bolt pretty much everywhere. I researched more about the company and was drawn to its reputation for innovation and making an impact,” Meenakshi shared.
For another intern, Irfan, Bolt was part of his first experience as a student in Estonia: “On my first day here, my ride from Tartu bus station to my university dormitory was with Bolt! I already knew some awesome people working there, and their stories were inspiring. The day before I applied, I’d spent an entire evening watching Markus explain Bolt’s vision on YouTube — and by the end of it, I was like, ‘Yep, let’s do this. Hope they select me.’”
Many interns were looking for a challenge — something that would push them out of their comfort zones and help them shape their careers. “I thrive in fast-paced environments, and Bolt seemed like the perfect place to figure out what type of law I’d like to practice after graduation,” said Heleri.
Another intern, Yağmur, had already been working at Starship but wanted to take on an even bigger challenge: “While my background as a lawyer is familiar territory, taking on this role in a different legal jurisdiction presented a unique challenge for me. I was eager to step out of my comfort zone and grow.”
For others, Bolt wasn’t just an internship — it was a chance to understand what kind of legal career they wanted to build. Heleri was about to enter the final year of law school but was still unsure about the next steps after graduation. The internship provided a valuable opportunity to explore different areas of law and gain clarity on the type of company and legal field to pursue.
Each day started with a caffeine boost and a check-in on Slack and Gmail for updates. Interns tackled tasks from tracking privacy cases to reviewing insurance projects and setting priorities for the day ahead.
After the busy morning, it was time to get to work. Each day presented new challenges, from solving urgent cases to doing legal research. The open and friendly culture made it easy to connect with coworkers from different teams, helping everyone learn and network.
Great work needs great breaks! Quick table tennis games, coffee runs with teammates, and finding the office dogs kept the interns’ energy high. The lively office atmosphere made each day both productive and enjoyable.
Each day included a mix of learning, teamwork, and memorable experiences.
As the day came to a close, some interns decided to switch workspaces for a change of scenery, while others enjoyed a final coffee break before heading home. Since we have several offices next to each other, interns are encouraged to explore different areas to find what fits them best.

As interns said, people at Bolt are approachable and down-to-earth.
“I was surprised by how Bolt still operates with the spirit of a startup — putting people first instead of just chasing profits. It’s a balance that many companies struggle with,” Irfan said.
Interns didn’t just watch; they worked on real projects, faced legal challenges, and helped make decisions. They worked on exciting and relevant tasks: analysed new laws, handled intellectual property cases, and even visited the scooter warehouses.
“I didn’t expect to draft roadmaps or process DSRs — I thought I’d mostly be reviewing T&Cs and proofreading documents. But I was given real, hands-on legal work, which was a great surprise!” said Joseph.
Bolt’s fast-paced, ever-evolving environment pushed interns to step out of their comfort zones and level up their skills. Each day was a new adventure — packed with exciting challenges, eye-opening learning experiences, and endless growth opportunities.
“There’s no strict hierarchy at Bolt — everyone is free to question or challenge anyone (in the right spirit, of course). That’s very different from what I was used to, especially compared to traditional law firms,” Meenakshi shared.
To Irfan’s surprise, challenges at Bolt weren’t swept under the rug like he had experienced at a 200+ year-old Fortune 500 company. Instead, they were acknowledged and actively tackled, creating truly refreshing transparency.
