Why Europe is different
Models trained on foreign roads do not transfer cleanly to Europe: street signs, lane markings, weather, street layouts and driving behaviour all differ. As does regulation. Autonomy for Europe has to be built on European capabilities.
Europe must be able to build and deploy autonomous mobility on its own terms. It means having the expertise, data, infrastructure and partnerships here to work with the best technology wherever it is developed and make it work for European cities and the people who live in them.

Bolt AD Solutions is built on capabilities unique to Bolt: a mobility platform serving more than 200 million customers globally, experience across different forms of shared mobility, established relationships with European cities and regulators, and in-house expertise spanning product integration, safety, fleet technology and deployment. Every month, people take millions of trips on Bolt's platform.
Autonomous mobility is not a finished product that you simply bring into Europe once the technology is ready. We want to be part of designing both the product and the ecosystem from the beginning, with a human-centric approach: what the vehicle needs to do, how it integrates with our platform, and how we improve safety, uptime, efficiency and total cost of ownership.

Product co-design
Bolt AD Solutions works with vehicle manufacturers and autonomous-driving technology providers from the product-development stage onwards, helping to set the vehicle, software, safety and rider-experience requirements for autonomous vehicles operating on its platform.
Bolt AD Solutions will build the European capability needed to integrate autonomous technologies developed around the world and deploy them safely on European terms.

Living labs
Bolt will test autonomous mobility as a whole ecosystem – vehicles, riders, cities and regulation together – in real city traffic, beginning with the Living Lab announced in Luxembourg. Alongside deployment, Bolt works with policymakers on the conditions autonomy needs to scale in Europe
