This guide explains the requirements and responsibilities for drivers joining the Assist category on the Bolt platform in Malta.
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (Assist Category)
The WAV category is for riders who use a full-size, non-foldable wheelchair and need to remain seated in it throughout the trip. This is a separate category from Assist and requires a specially equipped vehicle.

- Ensure the wheelchair is correctly positioned inside the vehicle
- Accommodate certified service animals
- Vehicle must be equipped with a certified ramp or lift
- Interior must accommodate a full-size wheelchair with the rider seated
- Must have a 4-point wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint system (WTORS)
How to Sign Up for Assist
- Contact Customer support and request to add “Assist Category” to the Vehicle
- Provide photos of the vehicle
- Provide a certificate of granting use of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles
- Provide a Driver’s training certificate (if applicable)
