Bolt joins UN Global Compact: strengthening our commitment to sustainability

Bolt’s mission is to make cities for people by reducing reliance on private cars through shared mobility alternatives. This impacts many people — our workforce, people who earn on our platform, our suppliers, customers, and the communities we serve.

To further strengthen our commitment to environmental and social responsibility, we joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) this year, aligning our efforts with global sustainability principles.

What is the United Nations Global Compact?

The UNGC is the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative, with stakeholders in more than 135 countries and 8,000+ signatories.

It’s a call to companies worldwide to align their strategies and operations with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of broader UN goals.

How will Bolt put UNGC principles into practice?

Bolt puts the UN Global Compact (UNGC) principles into practice using the UNGC Sustainability Management Model.

1. Commitment to the UNGC

Bolt has made a public commitment at the management level to support the UN Global Compact. This commitment is renewed annually, reinforcing our dedication to responsible business practices.

2. Assessing risks, opportunities, and impacts

In 2024, we conducted a , evaluating both financial and non-financial sustainability risks and opportunities.

It covered key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics, including human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption — aligning with the UNGC’s ten principles.

3. Defining goals, strategies, and policies

Sustainability is integrated into our core business strategy. We define goals, policies, and metrics that reflect our operating context. Our Sustainability Strategy is reviewed annually to ensure alignment with the UNGC’s principles and global best practices.

More details on our goals and policies can be found on our Sustainability page.

4. Implementation across Bolt and our value chain

To turn strategy into action, we’re continuously refining internal processes, our approach to employee engagement, and supply chain collaboration:

  • Employees receive free access to world-class sustainability training through the UNGC Academy.
  • Sustainability is embedded into core business functions and decision-making through ESG strategy and management.
  • We work with partners across our value chain to advance responsible practices.

More details on our action for sustainability can be found on our Sustainability page.

5. Measuring impact and progress

We track ESG goals and performance metrics to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement. Measuring impact is a continuous process that ensures we stay accountable and transparent.

6. Communicating progress

As a UNGC participant, we’ll publish our first Communication on Progress (CoP) in 2026, detailing how we implement the ten principles related to human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. Beyond reporting, we’ll engage with stakeholders and industry peers to continuously improve our performance.

But we’re not starting from scratch — we’re building on a strong foundation and are continuously fine-tuning our approach.

Through the UN Global Compact, we gain access to world-class insights and support, helping us advance sustainability even further.

A call to action

Sustainability isn’t a competition — it’s a shared goal. We hope our peers and partners join us in this global movement. The UN Global Compact provides the tools, resources, and community needed to make a real impact on business and society.

This is just the beginning, though. We look forward to leveraging this platform to drive meaningful change in sustainable urban mobility.
