When one deploy can lock out millions. Engineering at Bolt in Tallinn
Bolt serves more than 200 million customers in 600+ cities. Much of the code behind its rides, deliveries, and rentals is written in Tallinn, where Bolt is headquartered. At this scale, there’s no such thing as a harmless small change. A single deploy can stall a market, yet a 100 ms optimisation can save users thousands of hours a year. Bolt launches its most accessible shared e-bike yet
Bolt is launching an e-bike designed fully in-house, with input from riders and city partners, to help micromobility work better at scale. Lighter and more compact than typical shared models, it features a low step-in frame, ergonomic handlebars, and an adjustable saddle to make riding feel more intuitive from the first trip. The bike also raises the safety bar with integrated turn signals and a brake light, a triple braking setup, and wide pneumatic tyres built for real streets.
