We’re pleased to announce the launch of another safety feature to give you even more support and peace of mind on your journeys.
The Trip Safety Monitoring feature lets us quickly contact you and help if your ride-hailing vehicle hasn’t moved for an unusual amount of time.
Fast and accurate support made easy
Trip Safety Monitoring is part of the expansion of Bolt’s ride-hailing safety features for riders and drivers. It lets us contact riders and drivers automatically when a vehicle isn’t moving.
Safety Trip Monitoring allows you to indicate if and which kind of support you need faster than it takes to connect a call — via an in-app notification. The feature will ask you to confirm you’re OK, and you’ll then be shown several safety options available in a tap via the notification.
Trip Safety Monitoring helps us proactively identify and discourage potential safety incidents and enables our Safety team to provide greater support with improved accuracy. It also makes it as easy as possible for drivers and riders to get help if they need it.
How does Trip Safety Monitoring work?
If a Bolt ride-hailing vehicle travels less than a specified distance in a given period (defined by each city’s particular characteristics), we send an automatic in-app notification to the rider and driver.
Trip Safety Monitoring then asks riders and drivers to confirm they’re okay or use 1 of our safety features, including:
- Emergency assist button
Call the emergency services.
- Share trip
Share ride details with family or friends.
- Record audio
Record trip audio in the app and share it with Customer Support.
- Request Bolt Assistance
Get a call from our safety specialists.
If a rider and driver don’t confirm their safety, our Safety team will monitor the situation and call both parties if the repeated notification goes unanswered.
Travel safe with Bolt
At Bolt, safety’s our priority. We regularly invest in safety features on the Bolt app, offering drivers and riders a comfortable, reliable experience.
We’re constantly developing new products and features to provide riders and drivers with greater assistance and to identify and deter improper behaviour.
Trip Safety Monitoring is part of a longer-term upgrade to vehicle monitoring features, supporting our ongoing efforts to identify anything unusual during trips. We plan to launch even more trip-monitoring safety features soon, including Route Deviation and Delayed Ride Completion.
