Drohobych is a city in Lvivska oblast, center of raion with a population of about 74k people, located on the river Tysmenytsia. It was first mentioned in 1238, since ancient times known for its salt-making craft. First written mention of this craft dates back to 1390. Even today you can visit the old building of the existing saltworks «Drohobytska Zhupa» – the last one left in Europe, where salt is made by the same method as a few centuries ago – by boiling from natural brine. Walk along the Rynok sq. and take a look onto eclectic-style town hall (built in the 1920s). Be sure to explore the wooden church of St. Yura (1656) – a unique monument of ancient Ukrainian sacred architecture.
