The South African Revenue Service (SARS) requires all operators offering electronic services to collect VAT for services rendered.
Bolt has weighted rates on the platform to include the VAT fee; meaning that the rider pays for the fee as part of their trip fare. Like booking fees, you collect the fee and it's paid straight to SARS as tax.
Note: All deductions show in the driver app and invoice as Bolt Commissions.
