Duration: 8 hours Attendance: 100% mandatory — absences imply failure Final assessment: theoretical exam conducted by IMT, I.P. (Ordinance no. 344/2024/1, of 19–12) Registration form. After that, the training partner will contact you by email with the next steps.
- Valid for 5 years, renewable for equal periods.
- Must be renewed before expiration;
- You may attend the renewal course up to 6 months in advance.
- If the certificate expires, renewal is no longer possible — you will need to complete the initial training again to obtain a new certificate.

If you do not renew before expiration, you must submit medical and psychotechnical certificates to IMT.
If you are renewing before expiration:
-If you are under 50 years old, only a medical certificate is required.
-If you are over 50 years old, both a medical certificate and a psychotechnical exam are required.
-If your driver’s license already includes categories C or D, renewal of Group 2 is not required.
After the Course: What to Do
You will receive the training certificate from the school. Wait for the date of the theoretical exam from IMT. While waiting, submit your renewal request at imtonline.ptwith:
- TVDE Training Certificate
- Criminal Record
Once validated, the provisional license becomes available in “A Minha Carta,” allowing you to continue working until the evaluation.
