If you’re visiting Poznan in Poland, check out Sztos, a cosy pizza place just a 30-minute walk from the Old Town.

It’s listed as one of the top pizza spots in Poznan when searching online.

Sztos is also one of Bolt Food’s favourite partners, and we sat down with its owner, Jędrzej Waśko, to find out how our platform has helped them enhance their restaurant operations.

The Sztos story

Jędrzej told us that the primary motivation for opening the pizzeria was bringing people together through food.

Embracing its compact space, Sztos has strategically centred its attention on takeout and delivery, which helped it survive and even grow during the pandemic.

However, this wasn’t the only contributor to their success. Jędrzej believes that lies in…

“…Keeping the place running smoothly, sticking to our opening hours, and ensuring high quality.”

Sztos’ takeout and delivery model makes Bolt Food an ideal partner, and according to Jędrzej, this partnership is essential for his pizzeria.

Sztos and Bolt Food

Like many restaurants, delivery is a big deal for Sztos. It’s not just a supplementary aspect of their business but the main focus of the pizzeria.

“Delivery plays a key role in our restaurant operations. It accounts for more than half of our turnover.”

Sztos partnered with Bolt Food to diversify its income sources and exponentially expand customer reach.

In addition to food delivery, Bolt also facilitates ride-hailing services in Poland to assist people in reaching their desired destinations.

We regularly use our ride-hailing app to promote Bolt Food. We do this by sending push notifications to ride-hailing users, encouraging them to order food and informing them about special discounts. As a result, our restaurant partners gain increased visibility.

Therefore, partnering with Bolt Food allowed Sztos to connect with more potential eaters beyond the Bolt Food platform.

“Thanks to our partnership with Bolt Food, we’re now reaching customers we couldn’t ever have reached before.”

According to Jędrzej, partnering with Bolt Food also improved various essential aspects of the restaurant’s operations.

“Bolt Food helped us streamline our order execution and solved the logistics of deliveries. The app runs without problems, and if we ever need assistance, the customer support team always ensures we’re well taken care of.”

All these benefits translated into increased turnover for Sztos.

“Partnering with BoltFood has really made a difference. Our average weekly turnover has increased by ~20%.”

There were months when almost half of Sztos’s sales came from Bolt Food.

“We’ve had months where sales generated through Bolt accounted for almost 50% of our total sales.”

However, Sztos has a unique recipe for further maximising sales through Bolt Food, which they shared with us.

Tools behind Sztos’ sales success

Sztos’ strategy for driving more sales is offering customer discounts, which gives users more incentive to order from the business.

“When we use the 30% discount promotion, more people order from us and our sales increase.”

Bolt Food’s Partner Portal plays a central role in making this happen.

The Partner Portal is an online space where Bolt Food partner restaurants have complete control over their operations, including offering discounts.

Restaurants have the following choices when it comes to discounts:

  • Menu-wide: Discount all menu items to attract new and returning customers.
  • Selected items: Specific item discounts.
  • New customer: Percentage off discount on all items to attract new customers.
  • Free delivery: Reduced delivery fee.

These promotion types are easy to set up and update.

Based on average data globally, partners in our marketing campaigns see a 30%–100% sales increase. The surge varies with factors like offer type, discount amount, and target customers.

The cherry on the cake of the Partner Portal is the analytics it delivers to restaurants.

These analytics include valuable information that help restaurants make informed decisions.

Here are some key metrics:

  • Unique users: New customers who’ve placed their first order at your restaurant during the past week.
  • Average order value: How much, on average, customers are spending before any discounts.
  • Revenue: The total of all orders, inclusive of VAT and excluding the delivery fee.
  • Conversion: The percentage of customers who, after browsing your restaurant on the app, decided to place an order.

Sztos also makes the most of this valuable data.

“We review our order history, ratings, and other important metrics daily to make strategic decisions.”

Embracing growth with Bolt Food

Sztos

Sztos’ partnership with Bolt Food shows how embracing new opportunities can lead to restaurant success.

“Taking this opportunity was truly worth it. Bolt Food is a significant revenue stream that shouldn’t be overlooked.”

What added to Sztos’ positive experience was the simplicity of integrating the Bolt Food app into their operations.

“Navigating through the Bolt Food app and Partner Portal is easy, and the transition happened seamlessly.”

Sztos’ strategy on Bolt Food was clear and practical — speed and quality.

“Prioritising speedy and quality order fulfilment directly impacts overall customer satisfaction and encourages more frequent orders.”

This approach helped Sztos gain popularity in Poznan. It also won them the “Loved by the Locals” Bolt Food restaurant award. After all, who knows better than the locals themselves?
