Poltava is a city located on the banks of the Vorskla river (the name of the settlement most probably comes from Ltava, its right tributary). It has a turbulent historical past – the Battle of Poltava, which at that time decided the fate of the Swedish Empire, and at the same time dragged under the Moscow yoke Ukraine of that time. Homeland of Ivan Kotliarevskyi – the author of the iconic poem «Aeneid». Here you should visit the Kruhla Square, Ivanova Hora and take a picture near the monument to Halushka – a traditional for this region dish of Ukrainian cuisine.
