Vinnytsia – city on the banks of the Pivdennyi Buh river, the historical center of eastern Podillia. It is known to the general public as the city with largest floating fountain in Europe, an authentic water tower built in 1912 and a TV tower 354 meters high. Significant figures whose activities and social contribution are inextricably linked to the city are Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi (Ukrainian writer and chairman of the «Prosvita» cultural society) and Mykola Pyrohiv (a surgeon and educator who initiated the use of anesthesia during surgery).
