King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED), also known as Jeddah Airport, is located 30 km north of Jeddah and is the busiest airport in the Saudi Kingdom. The airport is known for its Hajj Terminal, which was custom-built to accomodate the influx of Muslim pilgrims who travel to Mecca annually. The airport is divided into three terminals: The South Terminal, the North Terminal, and the Hajj Terminal. The South and North terminals are conveniently connected by a large walkway, which allows all international and domestic flight arrivals and airport departures to be housed under a single roof. The Hajj terminal, at 510,000 square meters, is the 4th-largest terminal building in the world and serves as the primary gateway for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims making their traditional visit to the holy city of Mecca.
