Bolt’s services

From ride-hailing to scooters and food delivery, Bolt’s services are built to reduce car dependency in over 850 cities worldwide.

Ride-hailing

Ride-hailing is Bolt's core service. The platform connects passengers with registered driver partners across 50 countries.

It offers a convenient, reliable transport option and improves connectivity within cities. Bolt offers a range of vehicle categories — from premium to affordable — to make the service accessible to all while providing a market-leading experience for driver partners.

Car-sharing

Bolt Drive lets users rent a car via the app, unlock it with a phone, and pay for the time and distance driven.

This service offers the flexibility needed for longer journeys without the costs of car ownership. Bolt operates across 7 markets using both Bolt-owned and third-party vehicles.

Micromobility

E-bike and scooter rentals are growing transport options in urban areas.

There are over 250,000 vehicles available for hire across 30 countries. Micromobility services provide strong first- and last-mile connections to public transport.

Delivery

Delivery services include Bolt Food, which matches customers with couriers to deliver from 50,000+ restaurants, and Bolt Market, which offers fast grocery delivery from both Bolt-operated and third-party stores.

These services are active in 16 countries across Europe and Africa

Autonomous vehicles

Bolt is testing self-driving technology in partnership with Pony.ai to explore how autonomous ride-hailing could support safe and affordable transport in the future.

The pilot starts in Europe, with plans to expand in the coming years.

2013–present

History

Bolt was founded in 2013 in Estonia, when 19-year-old Markus Villig set out to fix Tallinn’s broken taxi system. With €5,000 borrowed from his parents, he recruited 50 drivers and built the first version of the app. His brother Martin Villig and co-founder Oliver Leisalu later joined him to grow Bolt into the global platform it is today.

Our mission

We’re making cities for people, not cars — with fewer vehicles, cleaner air, and more space to move.
Our mission
Bolt’s mission is to help people move in ways that make cities work better for everyone. That means reducing private car use and offering shared mobility options that are more efficient, accessible, and sustainable.
Every Bolt trip helps free up urban space, lower emissions, and give people back their time, money, and streets.

Progress report: One year of global climate impact

Riding is the new driving

Owning a car means paying for it even when it's parked. With Bolt, you only pay when you move, without the costs and responsibilities that come with ownership. Whether you're riding or renting, you can get where you need to go without the hassle of driving and maintaining a car. That's why millions are choosing riding over driving.

Products and features vary by country. Open your Bolt app to start riding.

Ride-hailing

While others are strangling their steering wheels, you’re stretching out in the backseat. Relaxed, productive, or doing nothing at all.

Why waste time when you can ride?

The average driver in London wastes 101 hours a year in traffic. In Paris, it’s 97. In Dublin, 81, and in Warsaw, 70*.

Scooters

While others are growing old in rush-hour, you’re breezing past and enjoying the fresh air. Fast, free, and in control.

Why stress when you can ride?

54% of drivers swear at each other, 46% honk excessively, and 31% tailgate those who annoy them*.

E-bikes

While others are yelling at their dashboard, you’re cruising through the city with a smile on your face. No sweat, no noise, no stress.

Why pay when you can save?

The average monthly cost of leasing and operating a car is around €1,090*. That’s €13,080 per year that you could be spending on something else.

Car-sharing

While others are trying to fix their serpentine belt for the third time this year, you rent a car whenever you need it. No maintenance, no bills, no hassle.
