Introducing the Pets Category – Travel with your pet
Good news! The Pets Category is now available in Malta
If you’re driving with the Bolt app, please note that this category is optional; you can decide to enable or disable the option at any time. To enable this option, and access the list of available categories, simply tap the vehicle icon in your Bolt Driver app at the bottom right of the map.
If you do not have this option already please request the category via your Bolt Driver App help support. In case you are allergic to animals, make sure you are not registered in the Pets Category.
Everything about a pet-friendly ride
Getting around town with your pet should be hassle-free. So the next time you need to take your four-legged friend with you, take them to the vet or simply don’t want to leave them alone at home, grab a Bolt!
Here is all the information you need to know.
Once you've downloaded the Bolt app, add your destination and select the Pets Category before confirming your trip. The Pets Category will ensure a safe and comfortable ride for you and your furry friend.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
-
Bring a blanket to cover the seat;
-
Cats and Dogs do not need to be caged, but other common household pets should be;
-
Supervise your pet throughout the journey;
-
If you plan to travel with a large dog, please inform your driver via the Bolt App before the journey begins.
Is it necessary to take the Pets Category when you have an assistance dog?
Service animals can accompany you at any time, at no additional cost. You can choose any category when travelling with this type of animal.
How many animals can be included in the Pets Category?
You can travel with up to two small pets, such as a small to medium-sized dog, cat or other domestic animal.
-
If you are travelling alone, you can take up to 2 small animals;
-
If you are at least 2 passengers, you can only take one animal.
What types of animals are allowed in the vehicle?
-
Dogs up to 40 cm tall can be transported in the Bolt vehicle, so that they are on a leash and sit on the owner's lap in the back seat of the vehicle, or next to the owner on the blanket. The owner is obliged to bring a blanket on which the dog can sit during the ride.
-
Dogs over 40 cm tall (maximum up to 50 cm tall) can be transported on the back seat of the vehicle, provided they are on a short leash and have a muzzle. The owner is obliged to bring a blanket on which the dog can sit during the ride.
-
Cats can be transported in the Bolt vehicle so that they are on a leash or placed in a transport carrier and sit on the owner's lap in the back seat of the vehicle.
How to ensure the vehicle stays clean?
Passengers are fully responsible for their pets during the journey. To ensure a comfortable journey, we recommend bringing a blanket to cover the seat as well as a cleaning kit with wipes and tissues.
If the vehicle is left in poor condition and requires professional cleaning, please note that a cleaning fee will be charged.
