Bolt is excited to offer you the convenience and efficiency of CarScan, our digital car inspection solution. With Scans Ai, you can easily complete your vehicle inspections from the comfort of your home, saving you time and effort. Your vehicle must pass a Scans Ai inspection to be activated on the Bolt platform.

Digital Car Inspections — from your phone, from home

Carscan has moved to Scans AI. Same trusted inspection, new app, and a simpler flow: pay online first in the Web-Driver Portal, then finish the inspection in the Scans AI app. No inspection centres. No queues. Your report is ready by 7am the next day.

  • R249 — flat fee per inspection, paid online by card.
  • About 20 minutes — guided inspection, maximum 30 minutes per session.
  • 7am — report ready the next day, as a PDF.
STEP 1: Open the Web-Driver Portal
STEP 2: Select your inspection package Choose the inspection required for Bolt. One credit covers one complete inspection.
STEP 3: Pay R249 online and get your credit Pay by card on the web portal. Your inspection credit activates immediately. Do not pay inside any app — payment happens here and only here.
STEP 4: Download the Scans AI app Once your credit is active, get the new Scans AI app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Sign in with the same number you used in the Portal. Skip the old Carscan app — it's been replaced.
STEP 5: Complete the inspection in the app Follow the guided prompts around your vehicle — exterior, interior, licence disc, VIN, plates, odometer and more. The AI checks each photo live. Finish within 30 minutes and your report lands by 7am the next day.

Before beginning, ensure your vehicle is clean and positioned in good lighting.
Make payment to purchase a credit - 1 credit required per inspection. 
Click "Start new inspection" to initiate the digital inspection journey.
Allow Scans Ai to use your location. Follow the prompts, and complete all the steps within 30 minutes.
Download the report, submit the PDF via your driver portal.
Bolt reserves the right to accept the vehicle onto the platform based on Bolt's Quality Standards.
A minimum score of 70 for both Interior and Exterior is required.

You can continue completing the WA inspection flow offline. Once you're back online, all your data will automatically be transmitted.

You have 30 minutes to complete the inspection once you start.

The session will expire, and you will need to restart the inspection from the beginning.
